My Wordpress Table of Contents

This is the front page of my portfolio Wordpress, Echo in an Open Field. I decided to post this here mostly because it sometimes helps to rehash old stuff when I have writer's block, and if anyone actually does read this Xanga maybe it'll get you reading my actual writing. I'll update it if anything new ever gets put up on the WP.

Once upon a semester...

I was shopping around for minors, and I thought it would be cool to minor in English/writing. It wasn't listed in the course book, so I e-mailed my 1st semester English professor and asked him if it existed, or who might know.

This is an e-mail response I got from him:

Hi Lindsay,

I certainly remember you. I hope that things are going well for you
this semester.

I know that there is a minor in English option, but I don't think that
there is specifically a writing concentration for it. You should talk
to the English department secretary, Cheryl Sharp, to find out the
specifics of the English minor.

Of course, you could always major in English. There is a specific
concentration in writing there. I know because that it what I did as
an undergrad. (I am always trying to recruit good writers for the
English department)

Good Luck,
Prof. Pauley

=D I'm actually taking the note I made of this e-mail off my Facebook, now that I've added him as a Friend on it. Ahah. But I wanted to keep it somewhere, lest it be lost in my e-mail forever.

Writing.Com Portfolio

I have started a (possible second) portfolio on writing.com. The link is here: <http://Writing.Com/authors/tizenkilenc>.

So far I have up:
1 essay ("Living With Lactose Intolerance")
1 story chapter (Fall of Heaven I/Prologue)
1 short story ("Hall of the Bear")
1 descriptive piece (Hub City)
3 poems ("Inside & Out", "The Supernova's Waltz", "A City Named Tragedy")

Despite the fact that my WordPress is technically a writing portfolio of its own, I decided to check out writing.com. Sometime I'll probably write a comparative paper of FictionPress versus Mibba versus Writing.com (because they're the only writing communities I know of/remember, at least right now).

I've gotten a nice bit of good feedback for my short story "Hall of the Bear," (the one I blogged about last time I posted), and that's making me pretty happy. I might think about it for a while and possibly go back and rewrite it or add some more detail to it later. I was considering writing prequels to it, to explain how Eddie and Wyatt get into the penitentiary (that I called Casse Russe -- Red Castle; I should probably change it, because it's totally jacked from the Dark Tower series).

Anyway, I have to go do stuff. College is started! Aiya.

New Fiction up on FP!

I just wrote a new story based on a nightmare I just had sometime before 10pm tonight (I know this because my 10pm alarm went off and brought me out of it). It's listed under horror if not only by virtue of it being based on a nightmare.

It's called Hall of the Bear (http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2700362/1/Hall_of_the_Bear). The summary is:
"Edgar and Wyatt are strangers who come to an even stranger sort of prison. What happens when the lights fall away?"

The Cerulean Empress: Blog

My story The Cerulean Empress has its own blog. It is at: http://www.mephysta.wordpress.com/. If you are interested in reading the story you can find every chapter to date there, now under the Quick Reference post. Here is the summary in case you don't know what it is about:

Marina Calder is a young witch from a little village called Talythia. She is whisked away to become engaged to a demonic prince, who will become Emperor when his father passes away. She becomes tangled in a web of lust, love, and duty as the empress of an empire spawned from Mephistovic himself.

Please take a look at this story; I've heard good things about it from friends, and I would love further input.

The Cerulean Empress Blog was last updated on 04/15/09 with Part 21.

** Keeping in mind that the parts on the blog are not the most current editions. I'm too lazy to go back and reformat all 20 of the ones I revised/edited just for the sake of the blogosphere... But it's not much different from what's there already.
